As you know, the Department of Energy has ref erred your June 10 letter to Mr. Deutch to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for reply. Since you seem quite familiar with the history of the Erwin facility--

including the most recent inventory dif ference-there seems to be .

little that I can add. I am, however, enclosing a copy of a public announcement of the Commission's most recent action-including a request to the Department of Energy to review the Erwin f acility in terms of whether it could be significantly modified or a new f acility built.
