of Information' Act as amended (5 U.S.C. 552). 1 I' request a complete and thorough search of all. filing systems for all records _or documents maintained by your agency concerning the SAFETEAM programs being used at several nuclear power plants .
,. SAFETEAM 'was developed in early.1983 at Detroit Edison's Fermi 2 ' nuclear
- plant to provide a forum for construction workers to express concerns. about'
- the' quality of construction. Since then,. the SAFETRAM program has been . l
- marketed to other: nuclear utilities by an Edison ' subsidiary. This subsidiary was originally named Utility Technical Services , Inc. , but was renamed Syndeco, _ Inc.
Besides Fermi 2, I know the program has been implemented at the Clinton plant owned by Illinois Power Co. ; Sales-2, owned by the Public Service .j Electric & Gas Co. ; the South Texas Project, owned by Houston Lighting & I Power Co. ;. and Comanche Peak, owned by the Texas Electric Utilities Co.
It also might be used by Public Service Electric & Gas Company's Hope ' Creek-1 plant.
I request copies of all documents concerning the SAFEIEAM program at the listed plants. These documents include, but are not limited to, inspection reports, notices of violation, correspondence with Detroit Edison or its
- subsidiaries about SAFETBAM, and internal NRC documents concerning SAFETEAM.
I_ as making this request in sg capacity as a reporter for WTOL-TV. I hope to use the requested information for a news story.
