SAFETY EVALUATION OF THE CORRECTIVE ACTIONS TAKEN IN RESPONSE TO THE ARKANSAS NUCLEAR ONE, UNIT 1, JANUARY 20, 1989, HIGH PRESSURE INJECTION SYSTEM BACKFLOW EVENT (TAC NO. 71972)

The staff has completed its review of the corrective. actions you have taken in response to the Unit I high pressure injection system backflow event of January 20, 1989. This review was based primarily upon information which you provided in submittals dated February 14 and 24, and April 27, 1989. It focused on the areas which were pertinent to the assessment of damage to the affected high pressure injection piping and to your corrective actions to prevent recurrence. The staff has concluded that your corrective actions were adequate.

TAC No. 71972 is therefore considered completed based upon the enclosed Safety Evaluation.
