Gentlemen:
This refers to the inspection conducted by Messrs. A. Singh and D. L. Kelley of
this office during the period October 15-19, 1990, of activities authorized by
NRC Operating Licenses DPR-51 and NPF-6 for Arkansas Nuclear One, Units 1 and
2, and to the discussion of our findings with Mr. J. D. Vandergrift and other
members of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
The area examined during the inspection was the verification of containment
integrity. Within this area, the inspection consisted of selective examination
of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and a
100 percent visual inspection of the accessible containment building penetrations
and their associated isolating components. The inspection findings are documented
in the enclosed inspection report.
Within the scope of the inspection, no violations or deviations were identified.
We have also examined actions you have taken in regard to a previously identified
unresolved item. The status of this item is identified in paragraph 2 of the
enclosed report. As a f ollowup to a tr.lephone conversation on October 20,
1990, between this office and Mr. James Fisicato and members of his staff, it
is our understanding that additional information will be provided to this
office regarding the unresolved item within 30 days from October 26, 1990,
please advise us promptly if this is not your understanding.
This report does not incude specific inspection followup for any Diagnostic
Evaluation Team findings (reference Diagnostic Evaluation Team Report issued
December 21,1989).
