A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION TO RESCIND APPROVAL FOR THE DISPOSAL OF RADIO-                              j ACTIVE WASTE AT THE DAVIS-BESSE PLANT                  ,

SITE.
WHEREAS, the Nuclear Regulatory Comission has approved the request of Toledo Edison Company and the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company to dispose of low-level radioactive wastes on the Davis-Basse plant site; and WHEREAS, the action of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission establishes
* a precedent' for storage of nuclear wastes at other nucleet facility sites;.
and                                                                    -
WHEREAS, radioactive waste is toxic and harmful to humans and the              -
environnent, causes cancer, birth defects, genetic damage and irreversible harm to the biosphere.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF .
PAINESVILLE, COUNTY OF LAKE, STATE OF OHIO:
SECTION 1.              That the Council of the City of Painesville hereby requests the Nuclear Regulatory Comission to rescind its approval for the disposal of radioactive wastes on the site of the Davis-Besse Plant.

SECTION 2.              That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby directed to send certified copies of this Resolution to the Nuclear                        {
