Dear Mr. Campbell:.
On October 1,1999, the NRC completed a routine inspection at your Davis-Besse Nuclear .
Power Station. The enclosed report summarizes the results of that inspection. No violations of
.

NRC requirements were identified.
l
The inspection was an examination of activities conducted under your license as they relate to
l
implementation of the physical security program. Specifically, the inspection focused on alarm
!
stations, communications, protected area access controls, maintenance support for the security
I
system, the vehicle barrier system, quality assurance in security, and a review of previous
inspection findings. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of
procedures and representative records, observations, and interviews with plant personnel.
Overall, the . security program was effectively implemented. la particular, supervisory
l
involvement and oversight of the Security Data Management System (SDMS) was effective.
l~
Maintenance support for security equipment was timely and professional. Your self
assessment program was effective in evaluating the security program.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rule of Practice," a copy of this letter and its

enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
