RESOLUTION NO.

13-86 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION TO RESCIND APPROVAL FOR THE DISPOSAL OF RADIO-ACTIVE WASTE AT THE DAVIS-3 ESSE PLANT SITE.

WHERIAS, the Nuclear Regulatory Cc= mission has approved the of Toledo Edison Cc=pany and the Cleveland Electric Illu=inating request Cc:pany to dispose of low-level radioactive wastes on the Davis-Besse plant site; and WHEREAS, the action of the Nuclear Regulatory Co==1ssion establishes a precedent for storage of nuclear wastes at other nuclear facility sites; and WHERIAS, radioactive waste is toxic and harmful to humans and the environ =ent, causes cancer, birth defects, genetic da= age and irreversible -

harm to the biosphere.

NOW, THEREFORE, SE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PAINESVILLE, COUNTY OF LAKE, STATE OF OHIO:

SECTION 1.

That the Council of the City of Painesville hereby requests the Nuclear Regulatory Co= mission to rescind its approval for the disposal of radioactive wastes on the site of the Davis-Besse Plant.

SECTION 2.

That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby directed to send certified copies of this Resolution to the Nuclear Bagulatory Connaission, Senators John Glenn and Howard Metzenbaum and Representative Dennis Eckart.

SECTION 3.

That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect i==ediately upon its passage.
