Dear Mr. Keppler:

Our Technical Specifications require us to report to you any event which has a significant adverse environmental impact. We have received a preliminary report from our University of Michigan consultants, Dr. John Ayers and Dr. David Jude, which indicates that the total estimated weight of fish impinged at the Cook Plant during April was substantially above the level normally experienced and identified the fish as mostly alewives.

Preliminary estimated weights for May also indicate a fish impingement level above that normally experienced. Our consultants are proceeding to finalize the data analyses and to assess the impact of this impingement event. As soon as we receive their final report, we will inform you of the results.

Sincerely yours, D. U. Shaller Plant hhnager
