Dear Mr. Davis:
This is to confirm a verbal report made to the NRC Operations Center via the Emergency Notification System at 0935 hours0.0108 days <br />0.26 hours <br />0.00155 weeks <br />3.557675e-4 months <br /> on August 31, 1987.
At that time the NRC Operations Center was informed that the Fire Suppression Water System was not operable as required by Technical Specification 3.7.9.lb due to the planned isolation of a portion of the east and south legs of the outside fire protection ring header.
This isolation was required to facilitate the replacement of four sectionalizing valves on the ring header.
The isolation of the system is expected to last approximately 14 days.
This isolation removed four fire hydrants within the protected area and.two fire hydrants outside the protected area from service.
No safety related Fire Protection Systems within the Plant were removed from service.
Backup fire protection is available from the remaining Plant fire hydrants and additional fire hose that was placed in the outside hose houses adjacent to the affected areas.
This letter will fulfillthe requirements of Technical Specification 3.7.9.1 Action b.2b which requires a followup report within 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> of the telephone notification and Technical Specification 3.7.9.1 Action b.2c that requires a
followup report within 14 days.
