Dear ter. Davis:
This letter is to inform you that Fire, Door 391 has been inoperable for longer than the seven days allowed by Technical Specification 3.7.10 Action a, and that the C02 fire suppression system protection the Unit.Two 4IQr complex has'een inoperable for longer than the 14 days permitted by Technical Specification 3.7.9.2 Action a.
Fire Door 391 separating Fire Zones 43 and 44N in the Unit 1 Auxiliary building was declared inoperable on January 18, 1989 due to broken latching hardware.
Due to the unique design of the three point latch on the door we have had difficulty in obtaining certified parts to repair the door.
Xt is expected that parts will be obtained and the door returned to operable status by March 31, l.989.
At the time the door was declared inoperable a roving fire watch patrol as required by Technical Specification 3.7.10 Action a was established and will remain in effect until the door is declared operable.
The C02 fire suppression system protecting Fire Zones 45,
- 46A, 46B,
- 46C, 46D,
- 47A, 47B and 60 in the Un't Two 4KV complex was removed from service on February 3,
1989 to allow mocification to the system piping required by the installation of a new ventilation system and fire dampers in the area.
At the time the system was removed from service a continuous fire watch reauired by Technical Specification 3.7.9.2 Action a was established and maintained until the system was returned to service on February 18, 1989.
