Dear Mr. Davis:
This is to confirm a verbal report made to Mr. Joe Ulie of your staff at 1110 hours0.0128 days <br />0.308 hours <br />0.00184 weeks <br />4.22355e-4 months <br /> on September 8,
1989.
At that time, Mr. Ulie was informed that the Fire Suppression Water System was not operable as required by Technical Specification 3.7.9.l.b due to the planned isolation of a portion of the east and south legs of the outside fire protection ring header.
This isolation was required to facilitate the replacement of valve 12-FP-133 in the outside ring header.
The replacement of valve 12-FP-133 is expected to be completed within 14 days and the Fire Protection System returned to service by September 21, 1989.
One fire hydrant in the protected area and one fire hydrant outside the protected area were removed from service due to the isolation of this section of the Fire Protection System.
Backup fire protection is available from adjacent fire hydrants and the plant fire truck.
This letter will fulfillthe requirements of Technical Specification 3.7.9.1 action b.2b which required a followup report no later than the next working day following the event and Technical Specification 3.7.9.1 action b.2c that requires a followup report within 14 days.
