TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION (T/S)
SPECIAL REPORT - LAND USE CENSUS (T/S 3.12.2)
U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attn: Document Control Desk Washington, D.C.
20555 Attn: A. B. Davis December 5,
1988
Dear Mr. Davis:
This letter is a supplement to our lett'er of October 31, 1988 (AEP:NRC:1079), that submitted a Special Report pursuant to our T/S Section 3.12.2 regarding our annual land use census conducted in 1988.
Subsequent to our October submittal we have identified an off-site location that yields a higher calculated dose through the milk pathway than previously calculated in accordance with T/S 4.11.2.3.
The newly calculated doses from the milk consumption pathway continue.to be well within T/S limits and the limits of 10 CFR 50, Appendix I.
Discussion As a result of a survey performed by the Cook Nuclear Plant Environmental'Section, a milk animal (goat) was identified in land sector F at a distance of approximately 3800 meters (2.36 miles) from the plant centerline.
This location is nearer to the plant than the location previously used for calculating off-site doses through the milk pathway.
Calculations of the dose commitment due to ingestion of goat's milk in sector F for the critical population groups were performed in order to provide a comparison to those reported in the Semi-Annual Radioactive Effluent Release Report for the first half of 1988.
The results of these calculations are's follows:

Mr. A. B. Davis AEP:NRC:1079A 1988-First Quarter Reported Revised Doses REM Doses REM 1988-Second Quarter Reported Revised Doses REM Doses REM Adult Teen Child Infant 3.40 x 10 6.60 x 10 1.60 x 10 1.25 x 10 2.43 x 10 5.89 x 10 2.10 x 10 7.73 x 10 4.90 x 10 9.60 x 10 2.30 x 10 1.80 x 10 3.53 x 10 8.46 x 10 3.10 x 10
. 1.14 x 10 As can be seen from the above table, the revised doses calculated for exposure through the milk pathway are well within 10 CFR 50, Appendix I limits.
In view of the results of the survey discussed above, for purposes of future reporting of off-site doses from milk ingestion we have elected to base our calculations on the assumption that a milk animal is located at 3800 meters from the plant in each land sector (not only sector F).
This approach will ensure continued conservatism in our reported off-site. doses.
This document has been prepared following Corporate procedures that incorporate a reasonable set of'ontrols to ensure its accuracy and completeness prior to signature by the undersigned.
