Gentlemen:

Thank you for your letter of January 20, 1989, in response to our letter dated

July 25, 1988. We have reviewed your reply to Open Items 313/8817-01,313/8817-05,

313/8817-06, and 313/8817-07 and find it responsive to the concerns raised in

, our report. As a result of our review, we found that additional information

was needed for Open Items 313/8817-02, 313/8817-03, and 313/8817-04, as discussed

with your Ms. Patty Michalk (during a telephone call on April 13,1989).

Specifically, it is our understanding that for Open Item 313/8817-02,the

technical assessments have been completed and no significant discrepancies were

found. We also understand that procedure revisions and operator training are

progressing ahead of schedule and should be completed well before the December 31,

1989, deadline.

With regard to Open Item 313/8817-03, we have forwarded our report findings to

Mr. William Regan (NRR) for consideration in the SER being developed by his

staff. The issues identified in Open Item 313/8817-04 have been forwarded to

NRR.

No further information is required at this time. We will review the implementation

of your corrective actions during a future inspection.

Sincerely,

O'
