LOOSE PARTS MONITORING SYSTEM RE: Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Unit 1 (GGNS-1)

By letter dated November 25, 1986, the licensee for GGNS-1 (formerly Mississippi Power & Light Company, now System Energy Resources Inc.) provided an evaluation report to demonstrate compliance with Operating License Condition 2.C.(14). This license condition required an evaluation of the loose parts monitoring system to address conformance to Regulatory Guide 1.133, " Loose-Part Detection Program for the Primary System of Light Water Cooled Reactors," Revision 1, dated May 1981.

The NRC staff has reviewed the licensee's submittal. The staff's safety evaluation is enclosed. The staff concludes that License Condition 2.C(14) has been fulfilled.
