ENCLOSURE 1

ENCLOSURE 2 TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL SUSQUEHANNA STEAM ELECTRIC STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION 12/18/08 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) and representatives of PPL Susquehanna, LLC held a telephone conference call on 12/18/08, to obtain clarification to the request for additional information (RAI) response regarding the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, Units 1 and 2, license renewal application.

By letter dated August 1, 2008, PPL responded to the staff's RAI 4.3-4 by amending the LRA Commitment #9 for the Boiling Water Reactor Vessel Internals Program (BWRVIP). In a teleconference dated December 18, 2008, the staff discussed the degree of detail that would be needed for implementing augmented inspections of top guide grid-to-beam and beam-to-beam locations. In this teleconference, the staff established that either the original commitment for the augmented inspections of the top guide locations would need to be placed back into the application or that the applicant's response to RAI 4.3-4 would need to be amended to discuss the corrective actions and sample expansion criteria that would be implemented if the augmented inspections of the top guide grid-to-beam and beam-to-beam locations were to detect cracking in the components. The applicant indicated that a supplemental response would be sent to include the commitment for the augmented inspection of the top guide grid-to-beam and beam-to-beam locations back on the FSAR Supplement A.1.2.10 of the LRA.
