OF TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL HELD ON SEPTEMBER 18, 2008, BETWEEN THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION AND PPL SUSQUEHANNA, LLC., CONCERNING REQUESTS FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION RESPONSES PERTAINING TO THE SUSQUEHANNA STEAM ELECTRIC STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2, LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and representatives of PPL Susquehanna, LLC, held a telephone conference call on September 18, 2008, to obtain clarifications to the request for additional information responses regarding the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, Units 1 and 2, license renewal application. By letter dated August 12, 2008, PPL Susquehanna, LLC submitted responses to the request for additional information concerning the Closed Cooling Water Chemistry Program.

ENCLOSURE 2 CLARIFICATION ON RESPONSES TO REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION SUSQUEHANNA STEAM ELECTRIC STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION SEPTEMBER 18, 2008 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) and representatives of PPL Susquehanna, LLC held a telephone conference call on September 18, 2008, to obtain clarifications to the request for additional information responses regarding the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, Units 1 and 2, license renewal application.
By letter dated July 10, 2008, the staff requested additional information regarding the Closed Cooling Water Chemistry Program. By letter dated August 12, 2008, PPL Susquehanna, LLC responded to the request for additional information. In the telephone conference on September 18, 2008, the staff wanted to verify the Closed Cooling Water Chemistry Program does handle cracking as an aging effect.

Yes, Closed Cooling Water Chemistry Program is credited with mitigating damage due to cracking.

The Chemistry Program Effectiveness Inspection and will be used for detection of aging effects.
This program will use the appropriate test methods, which will be a combination of volumetric testing and visual examination techniques.
In the telephone conference on September 18, 2008, the staff wanted to know in the letter dated August 12, 2008, if PPL Susquehanna, LLCs response to RAI B.2.14-1 Part b, paragraph two in referencing RAI B.22-02 was a misprint.
