DRAFT REGULATORY GUIDE FOR COMMENT Enclosed for review and comment is a draft U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)
Regulatory Guide. This draft regulatory guide is temporarily identified by its task number (e.g.,
DG-5016) and should be referenced as such in all related correspondence. It is important to note that although the NRC makes every effort to make its regulatory guidance available to the public, the enclosed draft guidance has been designated as containing unclassified-sensitive Safeguards Information (SGI) and must be protected in accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR), Section 73.21, Requirements for Protection of Safeguards Information.
The comment period for the draft guidance begins seven (7) calendar days following the date of this letter and closes 45 days thereafter. Comments received after that date will be considered if it is practical to do so, but the NRC is able to ensure consideration only for comments received on or before this date. Although a time limit is given, comments and suggestions in connection with items for inclusion in guides currently being developed or improvements in all published guides are encouraged at any time.
The NRC=s >>Regulatory Guide== series was developed to describe and make available to authorized stakeholders such information as methods that are acceptable to the NRC staff for implementing specific parts of the NRC=s regulations, techniques that the staff uses in evaluating specific problems or postulated accidents, and data that the staff needs in its review of applications for permits and licenses. Regulatory guides are not copyrighted and NRC approval is not required to reproduce them. Comments may be accompanied by relevant information or supporting data and should mention the task number in the subject line.
Because the enclosed draft guidance contains unclassified-sensitive SGI, all comments must also be protected in accordance with the criteria set forth in 10 CFR 73.21 and will not be made available to the public.
