SUMMARY

OF TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL HELD ON OCTOBER 10, 2008, BETWEEN THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION AND PPL SUSQUEHANNA, LLC., CONCERNING THE RESPONSES TO REQUESTS FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION PERTAINING TO THE SUSQUEHANNA STEAM ELECTRIC STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2, LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) and representatives of PPL Susquehanna, LLC (PPL) held a telephone conference call on October 10, 2008, to discuss PPLs response to requests for additional information (RAIs) concerning the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, Units 1 and 2, license renewal application (LRA). By letter dated July 3, 2008, the NRC staff sent PPL RAIs on the Aging Management of Electrical and Instrumentation and Controls section of the LRA. In a letter dated August 5, 2008, PPL responded to RAI 3.6-1 and stated that there is no need for an aging management program (AMP) for metallic fuse holders. This is inconsistent with the Generic Aging Lessons Learned Report. Therefore, the staff asked PPL to amend its response to include an AMP for the metallic fuse holders.

With regard to RAI 3.6-2 concerning the margin calculations, for the transmission lines the applicants response was not acceptable. PPL indicated that it would review its calculations and amend its response to RAI 3.6-2 if needed.
