SUMMARY

OF CONFERENCE CALLS ON MARCH 14, 2007, AND MARCH 15, 2007, WITH ENTERGY NUCLEAR OPERATIONS, INC., REGARDING THE PILGRIM LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION (TAC NO. MC9669)

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted a series of conference calls with Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc., (Entergy) regarding the Pilgrim license renewal application (LRA) to discuss Pilgrim Requests for Additional Information (RAI) B.1.16.1 - the Region I discovery of water on the torus room floor and to discuss neutron fluence. The conference calls were conducted on Wednesday March 14, 2007, between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. and Thursday March 15, 2007 between 1:30 and 2:00 at 11555 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20852. The list of participants is shown in the enclosure. The following is a summary of the conference call.

During the March 14 call the Director of the Division of License Renewal discussed the staff concern with the lack of detail offered by Entergy in Pilgrim License Renewal Application Amendment 15 of March 13, 2007 as it relates to groundwater in the torus room. During the March 15 call, Entergy discussed a method being considered to resolve Pilgrim Safety Evaluation Report Open Item 4.2. This discussion was a follow up to the conference call that took place on February 26, 2007. The staff will issue a formal Request for Additional Information related to Open Item 4.2.

The applicant had an opportunity to comment on the meeting summary.
