SUMMARY
OF PUBLIC MEETING On May 17, 2017, at 4:30 p.m., the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted a public open house at the Susquehanna Energy Information Center in Berwick, PA. The NRC conducted the Annual Assessment Meeting to discuss its assessment of the safety performance at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, Units 1 and 2 for 2017.
A Notice of the open house was issued on April 23, 2018, and was posted on the NRCs external (public) Webpage. The meeting notice can be found in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) with Accession No. ML18102A029. ADAMS is accessible from the NRCs Website at: http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.
The NRC presented poster boards and handouts during the open house to discuss its assessment of the safety performance of Susquehanna Units 1 and 2 for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2017, as documented in our letter dated February 28, 2018 (ADAMS Accession No. ML18047A008). The NRCs poster boards included background information on the Reactor Oversight Process. Additional information relative to the NRC's Annual Assessment Process and the safety performance of Susquehanna, Units 1 and 2 can be found on the NRC's website at https:// www.nrc.gov/ reactors/ operating/ oversight.html Members of the public and press, as well as, Susquehannas employees and local officials attended the open-house and were offered the opportunity to question the NRC regarding Susquehannas performance and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
