OF APRIL 27, 2010, ANNUAL ASSESSMENT MEETING WITH PPL SUSQUEHANNA, LLC.
On April 27, from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm, an Annual Assessment Meeting was conducted at the Susquehanna Energy Information Center in Berwick Pennsylvania, between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and PPL Susquehanna, LLC (PPL). The NRC requested the meeting with PPL management to discuss the NRC's assessment of thel safety performance of their Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, Units 1 and 2 (Susquehanna) for the calendar year 2009.
The NRC presented and discussed its assessment of the safety performance of Susquehanna for the period of January 1 through December 31,2009. ThEl presentation included information on the NRC's strategic goals, the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP), and the results of NRC's performance assessment for Susquehanna. As part of this regulatory performance meeting, PPL presented its perspective regarding the plant's performance during 2009 and operational goals for 2010.
The public was invited to observe this meeting. At the end of the meeting between the NRC and PPL, public attendees were offered the opportunity to communicate with the NRC regarding PPL's performance at Susquehanna and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
The NRC's assessment letter can be found in ADAMS with an Accession Number of ML100621039.
Regulatory action regarding work environment issues at Susquehanna during 2009 can be found in ADAMS with an Accession Number of ML090280115.
