REPORT MONTH Unit 3 operated at approximately 50% reactor power for the first two days of the month in preparation for the refueling outage.

The Unit was taken off line on March 3, 1997. A manual trip was initiated due to and Urgent Failure Alarm in the rod control system (see LER 250/97-002). The unit remained shut down for refueling for the remainder of the month.

On March 26, 1997, during Instrument and Control loop calibration testing, power operated relief valve, PORV-456, was cycled open four times. The system was not challenged, since the reactor coolant system was open to the atmosphere.
