REQUEST FOR RELIEF FROM PRESERVICE INSPECTION PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS -

PERRY NUCLEAR POWER PLANT (UNIT 1)

The staff has reviewed the technical basis for the relief requested in your letter dated July 11, 1986, from the ASME Code examination requirements encompassed in the Preservice Inspection Program for the Perry plant. The staff finds your request to be justified and, therefore, the relief request is granted. In granting the relief, the staff concludes that the Preservice Inspection Pro ram for Perry Unit 1 is in compliance with the provisions of 10 CFR 50.55a( )(3).

A copy of the staff's evaluation reports on the relief requested are attached.
