EXTENSION OF THE RESPONSE TIME FOR ENFORCEMENT ACTION 99-012

Dear Mr. Myers:

This letter is in response to a request that you made during a telephone conservation on June 15,1999, with James Lieberman, Director, NRC Office of Enforcement. During that conservation you requested additional time to respond to Enforcement Action 99-012. You stated that the additional time was needed so that your staff can obtain, via the Freedom of Information Act, a copy of the Office of Investigation report for Enforcement Action 99-012.

Mr. Lieberman verbally granted you an extension on June 16,1999.

This letter confirms that, starting on the date of the NRC's response to your Freedom of Information Act request, FirstEnergy has 60 days to respond to Enforcement Action 99-012. If you have any questions please call me or Jim Heller at 1-800-533-3025 or 1-630-829-9500.
