On June 3,1999, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staffissued NRC Administrative Letter 99-02," Operating Reactor Licensing Action Estimates," requesting an estimate on the number oflicensing submittals for Fiscal Years 2000 and 2001. Specifically, licensees were requested to provide a numerical estimate of the licensing actions expected to be submitted in Fiscal Years 2000 and 2001. Additionally, to adequately capture the larger resource impact of certain licensing reviews, licensees were requested to identify by brief title those licensing actions that are expected to generate complex reviews.

Based on the proposed submittal schedule for the Perry Nuclear Power Plant, there will be approximately 8 licensing submittals made through September,1999. Approximately 14 submittals will be made in Fiscal Year 2000, and approximately 6 to 8 made in Fiscal Year 2001. Complex submittals expected include the following: Power Uprate (Fiscal Year 1999), Ventilation System changes due to use of the Revised Accident Source Term (Fiscal Year 2000), and Emergency Core Cooling System changes due to the implementation of the Perform option of the SAFER /GESTR ,

Loss of Coolant Accident model(Fiscal Year 2000).

If you have questions or require additional information, please contact Mr. Henry L. Hegrat, Manager - Regulatory Affairs, at (440) 280-5606.

Very truly yours, k { l l
