On August 17,1995, the NRC issued Generic Letter (GL) 95-07, " Pressure Locking and Thermal Binding of Safety-Related Power-Operated Gate Valves," requesting that licensees take actions to ensure that safety-related power-operated gate valves that are susceptible to pressure locking and/or thermal binding are capable of performing their safety functions. By letters dated October 16,1995 (PY-CE1/NRR-1991L), February 13,1996 (PY-CEl/NRR-2021L),

and June 24,1996 (PY-CEl/NRR-2060L), FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company responded to GL 95-07 for the Perry Nuclear Power Plant, Unit 1.
