Gentlemen:

This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Messrs.

January 17 through March 3,1987, of activities at Perry Nuclear Power

and to the discussion of our findings with Messrs. M. D. Lyster,

C. M. Shuster, and E. Riley at the conclusion of the inspection.

The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined

taken to correct the identified violation and to prevent recurrence.

Our understanding of your corrective action is described in Paragraph

4c of the enclosed inspection report. Consequently, no reply to the

violation is required and we have no further questions regarding this

matter at this time.

Regarding the remaining item 2, a written response is required.
