IGSCC INSERVICE INSPECTION REVIEW (TAC 66529)

Reference:

Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station, Unit 1 By submittals dated June 1, 1987, November 26, 1987, December 10, 1987, and December 17, 1987, Commonwealth Edison Company (CECO) provided NRC staff with IGSCC Inservice Inspection information and commitments relative to Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station (QCNPS), Unit 1. Specifically, this information provided descriptions of the examination program, identified pipe weld flaws, analytical evaluation results, and repair actions conducted during the Reload 9/ Cycle 10 Refueling Outage. Additionally, CECO committed to upgrade two particular weld repairs and reevaluate another weld during the next refueling outage, and institute a leakage monitoring program in accordance with Generic Letter 84-11 during Cycle 10 NRC staff has completed a preliminary review of the information provided and concluded that the condition of respective pipe welds at QCNPS, Unit I should not preclude restart. A final Safety Evaluation by NRC staff addressing specific acceptability of pipe repairs will be issued at a later date.
