GRAND GULF NUCLEAR STATION, UNIT 1 - PRESSURE.TEWERATUPE LIMITS RELATING TO GENERIC LETTER 88-11 (TAC 71497)

By letters dated January 9, February 28 and October 13, 1989, System Energy.

Resources, Inc. (SERI) responded to Generic Letter 88-11, "hRC Position on Radiation Embrittlenent of Reactor Vessel Materials 6nd Its Impact on Plant Opera tion s. " The February 28, 1989 letter proposed pressure-temperature limits for the reactor coolant system for reactor heatup, cooldown, leak test and criticality for 10 effective full power years (EFPY).

These limits were calculated based on Regulatory Guide 1.99, Revision.2.

The NRC staff has completed its evaluation of these submittals.

The ERC staff's Safety Evaluation is enclosed.

The staff concludes that the proposed pressuro-tenperature limits are accept 6ble for use up to 10-EFPY, You are l

requested to submit proposed changes to the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station, Unit 1, Technical Specifications, Section 3/4.4.6, and associated Bases to incorporate revised limits within 60 days of receipt of this letter, as connitted in your February 28, 1989 letter.

The reporting ~ and/or recordkeeping requirements of this letter affect fewer than ten respondents; therefore, OMB clearance is not required under P. L.
