See Attachment 1 Louisiana Power & Light Company has reviewed Generic Letter 84-24, and the following certification of the LP&L environmental qualification program is provided:

(a) LP&L has in place and is implementing an Environmental Qualification Program that will satisfy the requirements of 10CFR Section 50.49 within the currently approved schedule for LP&L as documented in Operating License NPF-26, License Condition No. 6, and NUREG 0787, SSER Supplement 8.

(b) The Waterford Unit 3 Station has at least one path to safe shutdown using fully qualified equipment or equipment for which there is a JIO accepted by the NRC pending full qualification of any equipment not '

fully qualified.

(c) All other Waterford Unit 3 Station equipment within the scope of 10CFR Section 50.49 is either fully qualified or a JIO has been accepted by the NRC pending full qualification.

LP&L submitted by letter dated August 3, 1983, reference 3, a complete list of mechanical and electrical equipment included 'n the LP&L environmental qualification program pursuant to 10CFR Section .i0.49. The LP&L environmental qualification program includes all TMI Action Plan equiptnent as specified in NUREG 0737 and all Category 1 and 2 equipment as specified in Regulatory Guide 1.97, Revision 2. The LP&L qualification program encompasses all safety-related equipment located in a harsh environment as specified in 10CFR Section 50.49 and reference 5. LP&L also demonstrated that there is no non-safety-related equipment located in a harsh environmental whose failure under postulated accident conditions could d

items were complete or that a JIO was in place.- The NRC provided in NUREG 0787, SSER, Supplement 8 a confirmatory evaluation stating the acceptability of the status of the LP&L environmental qualification

' program.

_LP&L also apprised the NRC that IE Notices 82-03, 82-52, 83-45 and 83-72

related to environmental qualification, were addressed by LP&L, reference 10 1The NRC provided confirmatory approval of the status of these IE documents in SSER 8, Section 3.11.4.4. Other IE documents, references 15-23, are reviewed by the LP&L environmental coordinator, and the closure offany items required to complement the. Environmental Program will'be completed pursuant to 10CFR 50.'49 as stated ':ba Operating License No.
