Dear Mr. Merschoff:

In accordance with 10CFR55.47, Entergy requests a waiver of examination for senior reactor operator licenses for Messrs. Arthur N. Vest and Horace J. Lewis. Both individuals have held senior reactor operator licenses at Waterford 3 within the past two year period. Their licenses expired upon their leaving Entergy employment.

After their return to Entergy (Waterford 3) employment, Messrs. Vest and Lewis were entered into an accelerated nuclear operator requalification program. Attached are completed NRC 396 and 398 forms for both individuals. The senior reactor operator license of Arthur N. Vest (SOP-43585) expired on October 17,1997. Mr. Vest was re-hired on January 25,1999. The senior reactor license of Horace J. Lewis (SOP-43628) expired on May 23,1997. Mr. Lewis was re-hired on October 13,1998. Both candidates have passed the requalification program tests and are qualified to operate the plant competently and safely.
