Summary of Operating Experience April 1986 The month of April began . with the plant being raintained at cold shutdown while main generator repair work continued and removal of the reactor head to inspect the flange 0-Rings was underway. l The reactor head was removed on 2 April 1986 to allow determination of the cause of . previously - noted 0-Ring leakage. Investigation indicated the presence of debris on the seating surfaces. The debris was removed,.the O-Rings replaced and the head was landed on
.the vessel on 11 April 1986.
Additional repairs to components associated with the reactor head was performed in the interim period prior to main generator repair completion. This work included replacement of electrical '
connections for 28 control rod drive mechanisms, repair of conoseals on several thermocouple instrument posts and repair of seal welds associated with four spare CRD penetrations to'the reactor head.
. The Westinghouse portion of the main generator _ repair and the initial generator high potential testing were completed on 26 April 1986. Exciter re-installation commenced on 29 April 1986.
The' reactor coolant system was ' filled on 20. April 1986 and _a hydrostatic test was performed on 29 April 1986. Leakage wan.-noted "
at two of the four previously' mentioned spare CRD penetrations. The reactor coolant system was c' ooled down and drained for repairs.
April ended with the plant at cold shutdown to allow repair of reactor head spare penetrations and completion of main generator repair.
