SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE d}

November 1986 In general, Unit 2 operated at approximately 95% power through November, limited by' generator and turn vibration.

(

T

- i On November 2nd, generator end turn vibration increased to 16.7 mils.

Generator load was decreased to lower vibration to less that 16 mils.

5, On November 3rd, a 100 MWe load reduction to 750 MWe was conducted to

)

-['

,,' " -evaluate poweh reduction effects on generator end turn vibration.

As

,e result of discussions _ with the generator manufacturer, a new operating i

criteria was established to reduce load to maintain generator end turn vibration less than or equal to 15 mils.

This was being done as a precautionary measure, while still allowing full load operation if required by system demand.

7 i

iy A reactor trip occurred'on November 6th during surveillance testing of the f

reactor protectior. system.

Cause was determined to be a faulty relay in the trip circuitry.

The unit was brought on line November 9th, with load reduced to 815 MWe due to generator end turn vibration level.

1 On - November 13, #22 SIS pump failed when the, pump was started to provide makeup to the accumulators. The unit was shut down on November 15th, when repairs to the pump could not be accomplished within ' the time limits prescribed by the facility Technical Specificaitons.

After completing t

repairs to the pump, the plant was returned to service on November 17th.

On November 24, a load reduction to 550 MWe was conducted to repair #22 mdin boiler feed pump speed control.

The unit was returned to 800 MWe the same day.

Three) coquential 50 Mwe load reductions to 680 Mwe were conducted on November 27, to test and evaluate generator end turn vibration.

The unit wasreyurnedto800MWelaterthatday.
