Dear Sir:
The purpose of this letter is to provide information as required'by the Special Reports section (6.9.2) of the Indian Point' Unit Three (IP3) Technical Spacifications..
Technical Specifications Section 3.14, " Fire Protection and Detection Systems" section D.2.b states that:
"The minimum operable instrumentation required in Table 3.14-1 shall be restored-within-14 days or a Special Report shall be prepared and submitted to tho' Commission. pursuant to specifi~ation 6.9.2.f within the next 30 days outlining the c
cause_of the malfunction and the plans for restoring the
- instrumentation.to operable status."

-for scheduled modification work that required repositioning L

On May 20,'1992' the sauth side lower electrical tunnel (elevation 34') detection system #8 was declared operable, after modification completion and system retest, and the i
cystem was' returned to service.
