Pursuant to the requirements of Title 10 of tne Code of Federal Regulations Part 21 herein provided is notification of a correction to the subject no:ification of a potential defect in SB/SBD-1 Housing Cover Screws depending on Licensee operating ccnditions, as detailed in the attached letter. In order to expedite the notification of the facilities affected, Limitorque has made simultaneous written notice to both the commission and the attached list of' nuclear utility customers.

Follow-up Report Title 10 CFR Part 21 Notification Dated October 5,1992 SB/SBD-1 Housing Cover Screws The purpose of this letter is twofold:
- 1 The subject notification incorrectly identified the defective component as SB/SBD-1 housing cover mounting bolts. This is in error since the SB-1 unit is ggi affected by the notification.
i The only unit size in the SMB/SB/SBD actuator series that is affected is the SBD-1 unit.
- 2 Attached is a procedure that details the replacement of the affected SBD-1 housing cover bolts.

To replace eight (8) socket head cap screws [1-ICl-5/811 x 104) 61/2 inches long with fasteners [IICl-5/8-11 x 112] 7 inches long 7
The fo!!owing is a step-by-step procedure for accomplishing the replacement of fasteners.
As the procedure is followed, keep all parts clean and free from dirt.
Dutioni Be sure valve is in open position. (If valve is in closed position, unit m~y be landed and cause injury to personnel during disassembly.)
1.
Shut off all power to the Lin:itorque unit.
2.
Loosen all fasteners (Pe. 158, 159) and then remove fasteners.
3.
Remove disc spring cover (Pc.131) and assembled parts including gasket-4.
Install lift eyes in spring cartridge locknut (3/8-16 x.62 deep tapped holes) 5.
Lift entire drive sleeve / disc spring assembly from unit.
6.
One at a time, loosen, remove, and replace each 61/2 inch long fastener with a 7 inch long fastener and shim (.64 IDX.92 0.D. x.05 thick).
7.
Reverse Steps 1 through 5 above.
