SMFARY OF OPEPATING EXPERIENCE Docket No.: 50-247 Date: 4/8/83 Cmpleted by: J. Curry Telephone No.: (914) 526-5235 Indian Point Unit No. 2 began the month of Parch at 100% reactor pomr. On Parch 2, a contract diver became entrapped in the service water pump forebay while performing underwater inspection and cleaning. To rmove him required a reduction in plant load to approximately 180 PMe and a concurrent shutdown of all but one service water pucp. - He was not injured.
On March 7 a brief load reduction of approxurately 170 M1e was required to clear an obstruction frm the forebay of No. 24 circulating water puup after which the unit was returned to full power.
Unit 2 tripped autmatically on March 13 due to a low level condition in No. 23 steam generator in ccxtbination with a steam flow /feedwater ficw mismatch signal. 'Ihe trip occurred during a load reduction to cmpensate for a loss of speed control on No. 21 main boiler feedwater pump. The unit was returned to service the same day. Peactor power was raised to 42%
while the feedwater pump was repaired and full power operation was restored on March 14.
On March 16, load was reduced to approximately 670 Mie to permit removal of condensers frcrn service for inspection and cleaning. During the period frczn March 16 to Parch 23, three of the condenser sections were cleaned and several condenser tube leaks were plugged. No. 21 Circulating Water Pump was returned to service and full power was restored by_ Parch 22.
The unit was reoved frcm service on March 26 to repair a sten packing gland leak on the main feedwater regulating valve for No. 24 steam genera-tor. The unit was returned to service on March 27 and operated at 100% for the rmainder of the period. . . .
