SUBJECT:

Waterford SES Unit 3 Docket No. 50-382 Safety Parameter Display System (SPDS)

REFERENCE:

Letter dated December 2, 1985 from G.W. Knighton to R.S. Leddick j i

Gentlemen:

Enclosed please find the Functional Design Specification for the Waterford 3 SPDS Enhancement Program. As stipulated in the Specification, the enhanced design will be installed, functionally tested and operational with approved i

procedures by August 1, 1988. Validation testing for the system, which is l to be performed on the Waterford 3 simulator, will be completed by December

! 31, 1988. Effective this date, implementation of the system will commence.

Included in an Attachment to the Specification are Parameter Data Sheets.

l It r.hould be noted that although every effort has been made to ensure the i accuracy of tne information containea in tnese data sheets, changes to the

data sheets will be incorporated if the noted changes will improve the  ;

system.

Implementation of the SPDS Enhancement Program will result in changes to .

the SPDS software and a minor modification to the hardware (console only). I Since the SPDS is a software implementation on the Plant Monitoring i Computer, which is a non-safety related system, the system enhancements i will hr.ve no adverse impact on the safe operation of the existing instru-l mentation and equipment. As such, the SPDS Enhancement Program does not  !

create an unreviewed safety question nor does it require a Technical

. Specification change.  ;
