LP&L has made a number of submittals in response to the requirements of Generic Letter 83-28 " Required Actions Based on Generic 1mplications of Salem ATWS Events". The purpose of this letter is to provide a consoli-dated view of LP&L compliance in this area.

The short-range requirements of the Generic Letter have been addressed:

W3P84-0609 (Preventive Maintenance and Surveillance March 8, 1984 Program for Reactor Trip Breakers)

(Items 4.2.1 and 4.2.2) 4.5 Reactor Trip System Reliability (System W3P84-0299 Functional. Testing) (Item 4.5.1) -February 6, 1984 LP&L has made commitments to complete the long-range Generic Letter requirements. Specifically, in W3P84-0609 dated March 8, 1984 we indicated that Items 4.2.3 and 4.2.4-(Reactor Trip Breaker. life cycle testing and

. periodic replacement) were the subject of.a CE Owners Group effort. We committed to providing.information as to program and schedule by July 2, 1984.' In-W3P84-0610 dated March;8,~1984 LP&L stated that Item 4.5.3

' (review of existing Technica1' Specification intervals for on-line functional testing of the Reactor Trip = system) was being conducted through the CE Owners Group. We committed'to submit the evaluation results by.

December 3, 1984. By letter W3P83-3318 dated November 4,1983 LP&L made commitments regarding completion of the remaining Generic Letter require-ments. The Equipment Classification and. Vendor Interface Programs for.all safety-related components (Item 2.2) will be complete, and a report' submitted to the Staff, by November'15, 1985. The Post-Maintenance Testing Program for all safety-related compo'nents '(Item 3.2) will;be completed by November 15, 1985, and available for NRC review.- In' preliminary discussions with the
