Dear Mr. Dircks:

This letter contains supplemental information on offsite emergency preparedness at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Power Station. Our supplemental Interim finding to you dated August 2,1982, indicated that the State of Louisiana would be responding to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region VI Office in September 1982 with corrective actions to the plan deficiencies in the form of a revised " Radiological Emergency Preparedness Plan for Grand Gulf Nuclear Station." In addition, implementing procedures were to be a part of the revised plan.

The evaluation of the " Alert and Notification" system in accordance with Appendix 3 of NUREG 0654/ FEMA REP-1, has not been completed; however, a test of the system was conducted on November 1, 1982.

The adequacy of the system will be verified in accordance with NUREG 0654/ FEMA REP-1 at a later date.

As stated in our August 2,1982, Interim Finding, both the States of Mississippi and Louisiana have demonstrated the capability to protect the health and safety of its citizens in the event of an accident at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Power Station.
