Schedule of Corrective Actions for the April 11, 1984, Offsite Radiological Emergency Preparedness Exercise at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Attached are two copies of the schedule of corrective actions for the deficiencies noted during the April 11, 1984, offsite radiological emergency preparedness exercise at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station. The exercise report covering the performance of the State of Louisiana and Tensas Parish was eubmitted to you on September 14, 1984. The corrective actions proposed by the State of Louisiana are appropriate and adequate to address the deficiencies. The State and local plans are adequate to protect the public health and safety and there is reasonable assurance that appropriate protective measures can be taken offsite in the event of a radiological emergency; therefore, the 44 CFR 350 approval will remain in effect.

In conjunction with the corrective actions, the State of Luulsiana nas indicated that a comprehensive training program will be provided to all emergency workers by December 31, 1984.

The State of Louisiana was oranted an exemption from participation due to their full-scale testing of State capabilities in the Waterford 111 exercise conducted on February 8, 1944 The State of Louisiana voluntarily participated on a Ilmited scale at Grand Gulf to support Tensas Parish. This was a full-participation exercise for Tensas Parish. The report dated Auaust 16, 1984, was prepared by Region VI staff of the Federal Foergr1cy Manacement Aoency (FEftA).

There were two Category 8 deficiencies observed at the exercise. These deficiencies did not detract fro the overall capability demonstrated by the State of Louisiana and Tensas Parish to protect the health and safety of the public in the vicinity of the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station. Therefore, the 44 CFR 350 approval granted on Junc ?4, 1993, will renain in effect.

FEFA Pegion VI staff will furnish a copy of this report to the State of Louisiana and will request a schedule of corrective actions. As soon as we receive and analyze the State's response, we will provide you with the results.
