Final Peport of the lby 14, 1986, and August 6 & 7, 1986, hmdial Drilla of Offsite Radiological Emergency Preparedness Plans for the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Attached are two copies of the final report on renedial drills resulting fran the December 3,1985, exercise of offsite radiological energency prepared-ness plans for the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station. The drills were conducted May 14, 1986, and August 6 & 7, 1986. This report was prepared by the Region VI stai.f of the Federal Bnergency Management Agency.
The outstanding deficiencies that have been corrected or are scheduled for correction are:
limitations of the primary dedicated hot line telephone system o
in the State Emergency Operations Center; This deficiency is expected to be corrected by December 31, 1986.
unsatisfactory direction and control of the field monitoring o
teams including connunication problems involving the Louisiana Nuclear Energy Division; This deficiency was corrected by the installation of a new two-way radio base station at the EOF.
unsatisfactory handling of contaminated individuals by the o
Madison Parish Hospital and Aubulance Services; This deficiency was corrected by the identificatior-of a different hospital to provide radiological handling of contaminated individuals and the successful remedial drill of the Mahoney Ambulance Service.
The appropriate state plans have been anended to reflect this change.

Based on the'results of the exercise, remedial drills, and scheduled
- corrective actions, the offsite radiological emergency plans and prepared-ness are adequate to provide reasonable assurance that appropriate neasures can be taken to protect the health and safety of the public in the event of' an accident at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station, and, the 44 CFR 350 approval granted in June 1983 will renain' in.effect.
