i Ladies and Gentlemen:
7 On October 30,1997, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued the reference Safety Evaluation (SE), which within the conditions and limitations described in the SE, stated that the Staff considers the Joint Owners' Group (JOG) Program on MOV Periodic Verification an acceptable industry-wide response to Generic Letter (GL) 96-05.

Generic Letter 96-05, Updated Response January 11,1999 CNRO-99/00002 Page 2 of 3 The JOG agreed that afler the issuance of the SE, requests would be made for participating utilities to notify the NRC of their plans to implement the JOG program described in Revision 2 of the topical report which was the subject of the SE (i.e., NEDC-32719) and that any deviations from the JOG program would bejustified.
By this letter, Entergy Operations, Inc. is providing the requested SE response.
Entergy will continue participating in the JOG MOV-Periodic Verification Program through its membership in the Boiling Water Reactor Owners' Group, CEOG and/or B&WOG and will implement the program elements described in Topical Report NEDC-32719, Revision 2.
This response represents EOI's position for all four ofits nuclear sites and supersedes any previous commitments to periodic testing made in accordance with the GL 89-10," Safety-Related Motor-Operated Valve Testing and Surveillance" program response.
