Managing Editor 1 Herald Square j Boston, Massachusetts 02106

Dear Mr. Eisner:

I was severely disappointed with the article regarding Pilgrim which appeared i in the Herald on April 9,1988, in that the article made an inadequate repre- ,

sentation of my April 7, 1988 conversation with your reporter. My tone in that  :

conversation was that there clearly is improvement at the plant as a result of improved management involvement. The article provides a nearly opposite mess-age by focusing only on areas where a need for further improvement is indi-  ;

cated, drawing inappropriate conclusions regarding the current performance of

~

plant management, and attributing those conclusions to me. The views your  !

article attributes to me are misrepresented.

I have followed a policy which involves endeavoring to be accessible and helpful to the press. I believe it is counterproductive on the part of your i paper to misrepresent my statements. Also, I had mentioned to your reporter that a previous article headline had mischaracterized my statements. In view of these incidents, I no longer wish to be contacted directly by the Herald. I ,

suggest that you direct any future requests for information through the NRC ,

Public Affairs Officer. i Sincerely,  !
