SUMMARY

OF PUBLIC ENVIRONMENTAL SCOPING MEETINGS RELATED TO THE REVIEW OF THE SUSQUEHANNA STEAM

ELECTRIC STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2, LICENSE RENEWAL

APPLICATION (TAC NOS. MD3021 AND MD3022)

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted environmental scoping meetings related to the review of the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, Units 1 and 2 (SSES) license renewal applications submitted by PPL Susquehanna, LLC (PPL). Two public

meetings were held on Wednesday, November 15, 2006, at the Eagles Building, 107 South

Market Street, Berwick, Pennsylvania. Approximately 28 people attended the meetings, including members of the public, representatives of PPL (the applicant), local citizen

organizations, and local news media. Public comments focused on radiation protection, emergency planning, security, power uprate, water resources, and spent fuel storage.

A combined listing of attendees for both public meetings is provided in Enclosure 1. Enclosure 2 is a copy of the meeting handouts provided during the public meeting and open house

sessions. The official corrected transcripts for the afternoon and evening meetings, are publicly

available at the NRC Public Document Room (PDR), located at One White Flint North, 11555

Rockville Pike, Rockville, Maryland, 20852. Tran scripts are also available from the NRC's Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) under Accession Numbers ML063330279 and ML063330281 respectively. The ADAM S Public Electronic Reading Room is accessible at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html

.A Copy of the slides used during the NRC's presentation is also available in ADAMS under Accession No. ML063240150. Persons who do not have access to ADAMS, or who encounter
