MAINTENANCE OF REFERENCE MATERIALS AT THE MILL MEMORIAL LIBRARY, RELATED TO THE REVIEW OF THE SUSQUEHANNA STEAM ELECTRIC STATION LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION

Dear Mr. Farides:

This letter is a follow-up to our visit to your library on August 22, 2006, concerning the maintenance of relevant documents by your library. These documents are related to the U.S.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staffs review of the application by PPL Susquehanna, LLC (PPL) for renewal of the operating license for the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, Units 1 and 2, for an additional 20 years. The application was received by the NRC on September 15, 2006.

The NRC staff appreciates your willingness to assist the public in participating in the license renewal application (LRA) process. As discussed, your support would consist of providing approximately two feet of shelf space in your reference section, which would be used for making documents related to the NRC staffs environmental review of the LRA available to the public. We will place the Mill Memorial Public Library on our distribution list for documents and notices related to the review of the Susquehanna application. After the application process is completed in approximately two years, you may dispose of these documents.

A paper copy of the application is being sent to you via priority mail. An electronic version will also be made available at the NRCs License Renewal Website, accessible at http://www.nrc.gov/reactors/operating/licensing/renewal/applications/susquehanna.html.

Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions, you can reach me by telephone at (301) 415-1224 or via e-mail at axm7@nrc.gov.

Sincerely,

/RA/
