Dear Sir:

The Louisiana Power & Light Company (LP&L), in reference 1, provided a brief summary completion status on the Waterford 3 Training Simulator to the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Also indicated in reference 1 was a projected date of March 13, 1987 to start packing the simulator for shipment.

Subsequent to the Reference 1 schedule projections, the simulator vendor (Link Simulation Systems Division of the Singer Company

[ Link]) was not able to complete simulator discrepancy corrections and computer programs re-work resulting from factory acceptance testing as quickly as projected; and the March 13, start-packing projected date for the simulator was not achieved.

However, through the constant attention of both LP&L and Link personnel and executive management, additional technical and manpower resources were applied to minimize further slippage in '

the schedule; and as a result, packing of the simulator for shipment started on April 14, 1987.
