SUBJECT:

Louisiana Power & Light Company Waterford SES Unit 3 Docket No. 50-382 Amended Request for Extension of Construction Permit REFERENC"S: 1) Letter from R.S. Leddick to D.C. Eisenhut (W3P83-3264), dated September 29, 1983

2) Letter from R.S. Leddick to D.G. Eisenhut (W3P84-2184), dated August 15, 1984
3) Letter from D.G. Eisenhut to J.M. Cain, dated June 13, 1984

Dear Mr. Eisenhut:

In the above Reference 1 and pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55(b), Louisiana Power &

Light (LP&L) requested that the Commission extend the construction completion date for Waterford SES Unit No. 3 set forth in the Construction Permit, CPPR-103, to September 30, 1984.

In the above Reference 2 LP&L amended Reference 1 by requesting a construction completion extension until December 31, 1984. LP&L hereby submits a second amendment to Re ~erence 1 by requesting a construction completion date extension until February 28, 1985.

LP&L continues to believe that design, construction and testing of Waterford 3 have essentially been completed in accordance with the Final Safety Analysis Report and other licensing documents and that the unit is ready to load fuel. Additional time required to respond to NRC issues (Reference 3) was the basis for the previous extension request. LP&L has since addressed the issue in Reference 3, and the documentation of the NRC staff review to support issuance of an operating license is pending.
