Dear Sir:

The Louisiana Power & Light Company (LP&L), in reference 1, provided a brief summary completion status on the Waterford 3 Training Simulator to the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Also indicated in reference 1 was a projected date of March 13, 1987 to start packing the simulator for shipment.

Subsequent to the Reference 1 schedule projections, the simulator vendor (Link Simulation Systems Division of the Singer Company

[ Link]) was not able to complete simulator discrepancy corrections and computer programs re-work resulting from factory acceptance testing as quickly as projected; and the March 13, start-packing projected date for the simulator was not achieved.

However, through the constant attention of both LP&L and Link personnel and executive management, additional technical and manpower resources were applied to minimize further slippage in '

the schedule; and as a result, packing of the simulator for shipment started on April 14, 1987.

computers and control panels was received at the LP&L Energy Education Center, with the balance of the simulator components expected by May 1, 1987. ~nstallation of'the simulator components received in the initial shipment is in progress.as of this date. The present projected schedule for the simulator is.for all simulator _ components to be completed, installed and

. reverification testing started by May 14, 1987.

LP&L would like to emphasize that the completion of the simulator.

.in a' timely manner continues to be a high priority undeavor for LP&L and one which will continue to receive the complete initiative and support of LP&L personnel and' executive' management.
