Crutchfield, NRC, NUREG-0737, Performance Testing of PWR Relief and Safety Valves, August 6, 1982 The referenced letter informed you that the final evaluation necessary to determine the applicability of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) program test results for the PORVs, SVs, and PORV Block Valves at San Onofre Unit 1 would not be completed until September 24, 1982.
The purpose of this correspondence is to inform you that the results will be transmitted to you by November 30, 1982. This delay is necessitated by a need to perform additional analyses and review of the report to provide an adequate justification of the PORVs and SVs at San Onofre Unit 1. The information necessary to provide the justification of the PORV Block Valves must be obtained from the vendor and will require an unknown lead time.
The results of hot functional testing of the Crosby 3K26 safety valves during startup must also be obtained from the vendor. It is not known if the information on the PORV Block Valves and Safety Valves will be received on schedule to support the November 30, 1982 date, but we will at that time have a schedule established for submittal of this information for your review.
