EOF Ventilation System Docket Nos. 50-206, 50-361 and 50-362 San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Units 1, 2 and 3 In response to recent statements by the staff of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) requiring the capability to isolate the ventilation system for the Emergency Operations.Facility (EOF) at San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS),
Southern California Edison Company (SCE) has reviewed the EOF ventilation system design.
As a result of the review, SCE has concluded that certain modifications are-necessary to assure that the EOF ventilation system can be isolated.
The modifications involve the installation of isolation dampers on all HVAC penetrations into the EOF. SCE is proceeding with the modifications and these modifications will be completed and associated procedures issued by January 1, 1984.
As a result of SCE's review of the EOF ventilation system design, SCE has identified a potential problem with air leakage from EOF equipment rooms, such as the diesel generator room. The significance of these leaks is unknown at this time. If it is determined necessary, SCE will correct the problem in an expeditious manner.
